Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Production Engineering Manager to lead our Manufacturing/Production Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, configuration management, change control, and implementation of best practices to achieve productivity and ensure timely and budget-friendly transitions.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to achieve team goals and conduct efficient team meetings and effective problem-solving.
- Department Training: Drive department training requirements and standard practices to ensure a high level of expertise among team members.
- Supervisory Direction: Provide supervisory direction, counseling, instruction, training, and development to manage the creation of production planning, estimates, change control, call board activities, and configuration management.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend solutions, lead, and support CI projects that result in safety, quality, and cost improvements, reducing environmental impact, and networking with internal and external contacts to share best practices, tools, and project management.
- Process Improvement: Continually seek improvement opportunities in systems utilization, elimination of the 8 wastes, new technologies, and manufacturing process improvements.
- Certifications: Fulfill requirements and apply for certifications that validate the implementation of best practices and CI tools.
- Risk Management: Evaluate, identify, and mitigate risks on all processes, as well as before and during transition processes.
- Project Prioritization: Work with other managers to prioritize projects and deploy proper resources as needed.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in Aerospace Engineering positions.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the aerospace industry, its products, and processes, including electrical harnesses, components fabrication, and structural assembly.
- Transition Experience: Experience in transitions of aerospace products and processes.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing industry processes, trends, and technologies.
- Technical Skills: GD&T, 2D drawings, and CAM/CAD.
- Lean Manufacturing: Experience in Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Strong Leadership, Negotiation, and Communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Language Skills: English language is a must. 6 Sigma and French language are a plus.
