Position Overview

Senior QA Automation Engineer

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing software quality through the development of robust testing frameworks. Your expertise will be crucial in automating testing processes, ensuring that applications meet the highest standards of quality. You will possess a deep understanding of functional testing and automation methodologies, enabling you to manage and execute comprehensive testing strategies effectively.

In this capacity, you will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, providing training on products and independently managing projects. Your role will also involve mentoring junior team members, fostering their growth in testing practices and automation techniques.

Senior QA Engineers are innovative thinkers who continuously seek to improve testing automation frameworks. You will assess and report on the software development processes utilized in various projects through thorough audits and reviews.

Key Responsibilities
In your role as Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will:

Design, implement, and optimize automation tests while addressing any issues that arise. Contribute to defining the scope, methodologies, and tools for Quality Engineering practices. Develop and execute both exploratory and automated tests to uphold product quality. Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and cases within Azure DevOps (ADO) to ensure thorough coverage of features and user stories. Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities for in-sprint, regression, and release testing. Advocate for a shift-left approach and prioritize automation in testing. Mentor colleagues in automation practices and lead by example. Design, develop, and execute automation scripts effectively. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, business analysts, and product managers) to clarify product requirements. Participate actively in scrum and agile ceremonies. Work closely with team leaders and architects to design and implement quality processes and practices.

Candidate Profile

You are an ideal candidate for the Senior QA Automation Engineer position if you possess:

Over 6 years of professional experience in QA Engineering, with a focus on translating business requirements into test scenarios and developing automation suites. A solid background in Agile environments, demonstrating a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle. Experience assisting Product Managers and Business Analysts with test planning, estimations, and scenarios based on feature and user story themes. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Previous experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). Hands-on experience with in-sprint automation. Proficiency in test automation tools/frameworks such as WebdriverIO/Selenium, Playwright, and Cucumber. Experience in enhancing test automation for Angular/React applications, APIs, SOAP services, and microservices. Strong skills in automating web services using Python, JavaScript, or Java. Solid understanding of SQL and the ability to write queries against relational databases like Oracle and PostgreSQL. Familiarity with performance and security testing is a plus. Experience with version control systems (GIT). A good grasp of JSON and XML data formats. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or OCI. Proficiency in at least one programming language, including JavaScript, Java, or Python.
