Hardware Validation and Verification Engineer

Main Responsibilities:
As a key member of the John Deere team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating all control system validation and verification plans for construction machines. This includes creating and executing PV&V plans that correlate to field data and demonstrate reliability against component and system requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Participate on Product Delivery Process (PDP) and Supplier Change Requests teams as the Electrical PV&V representative, ensuring PV&V activities and plans are formulated and followed.
- Perform bench level and on-machine hardware verification, managing testing at Deere facilities, worldwide component suppliers, and external test houses.
- Create and update all required documentation for PV&V activities, including V2Nets, FMEAs, and standard test procedures within eKV (internal databases).
- Resolve test issues by proactively communicating failures early, making suggestions for improvements, facilitating root cause analysis, and following through on re-verification activities as required.
- Develop, mentor, and train other Electrical PV&V Engineers on the process and methods.
- Lead, create, and update Product Requirements Document for electronic components.
- Participate on internal teams to drive methodology and efficiency improvements.
- Provide problem-solving of embedded system issues on new product development and current production.
- Engage in applying/leading PV&V tools in Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams, encouraging early interaction of both customer and supplier input to team activities.
- Participate in print reviews and design reviews of new products.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of embedded hardware experience performing product validation and verification for electronic components.
- 1 to 3 years of embedded hardware design.
- Excellent communication skills (English) and leadership potential.
- Knowledge of environmental verification testing.
- Strong drive by results.
- Verification and Validation planning and design risk assessment.
- Use of the scientific method for problem-solving.
- Root cause analysis.
- Use of technology to acquire data and validate systems.
- Rigorous data analysis - Decision making.
- Planning and organizing skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in embedded product verification and validation work.
- Good knowledge of embedded hardware components.
- Good knowledge of embedded software.
- Good knowledge of international testing standards.
- Working knowledge of EMC and EMC testing.
- Knowledge in engineering principles, theory, and practice as well as product knowledge.
- Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP), and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP).
- Understanding of serial communications.
- Experience with 3D modeling tools.
Education:
Bachelor's degree related to field in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Physics, Aeronautical, Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience.
