The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Cloud Engineering Infrastructure present a unique opportunity to design and manage a comprehensive suite of large-scale, interconnected cloud services within a widely distributed, multi-tenant cloud framework. Fusion Application as a Service (FAaaS) is an innovative team focused on the convergence of infrastructure and applications, showcasing OCI's capability to revolutionize some of the largest SaaS offerings in the industry. We are transforming Oracle's SaaS portfolio, including the multi-billion dollar revenue-generating Fusion applications, into premier Oracle cloud solutions.

To realize this vision, we are constructing a platform that oversees the complete lifecycle, from provisioning to upgrades to termination, while offering a self-service cloud experience for our SaaS products, leveraging the foundational OCI platform and services.

As a Principal Member of the Technical Staff on the FAaaS team, you will contribute to the development of distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems that support our business objectives and end-user needs. You will be responsible for the entire software lifecycle, encompassing development, testing, CI/CD, and production operations. Balancing product feature development with operational considerations, such as creating run books, automating operations, and implementing structured logging and instrumentation for metrics and events, will be key to your role.

From a technological standpoint, this is a greenfield development setting, providing substantial autonomy to innovate without the constraints of legacy systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in delivering scalable, cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong understanding of Computer Science principles (data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms).
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, and shell scripting tools.
  • Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Solid experience with GitHub/Bitbucket, TeamCity/Hudson, Maven/Gradle.
  • Expertise in building highly available services, with knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Storage technologies, including Block Storage and File Storage.
  • Hands-on experience with btrfs filesystem is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience in developing control plane/data plane solutions for cloud-native organizations.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues in complex environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Unix-like operating systems.
  • Production experience with Cloud and ML technologies is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with data science and machine learning concepts is advantageous but not required.
