At WernerCo, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Manager to join our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing and supply management strategies that drive continuous improvements in supplier performance, reduce costs, and minimize risk.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and negotiate long-term agreements with key suppliers to minimize risk and total cost of ownership.
  2. Transform and optimize the supply base through the deployment of strategic sourcing tools and techniques.
  3. Lead cross-functional category teams in the execution of sourcing initiatives, cost reduction, and productivity improvement projects.
  4. Coach and mentor team members to build the organization's category management capabilities.
  5. Build and maintain successful and effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Develop cost models to understand cost drivers of purchased components and services, and utilize negotiation and cost management tools to obtain best-in-class pricing.
  7. Establish and communicate supplier performance expectations, monitor, and drive compliance with key performance indicators.
  8. Ensure continuity of supply by proactively managing critical supply issues and securing effective supplier capacity to meet current and future needs.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in business, finance, or engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 1 or more project management certifications (CPM, CPSM, CPIM, or PMP), Lean Six Sigma Black belt or Greenbelt.
  • 5+ years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 3 years in indirect categories.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supply chain, procurement, product development, or manufacturing environment.
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following categories: Facilities Management, CAPEX, Transportation, Contract Services, IT Services & Hardware, MRO, Tooling Travel, Other.
  • Language skills: Spanish and English (mandatory).

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Power BI) and strong knowledge of ERP systems (JD Edwards).

Special Requirements:

Ability to travel up to 10%.
