Job Summary

The Financial Accountant will oversee the financial accounting and reporting for Mastercard Transaction Services, primarily for the US and Canada regions. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, as well as maintaining compliance with financial regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries in the Oracle system
  • Assist with contra revenue calculation and posting in the CRS system
  • Review and prepare balance sheet account schedules and upload them in Blackline
  • Perform P&L analysis and request reclass/adjustment entries as necessary
  • Assist with interim and year-end audit requirements
  • Perform various ad hoc activities and tasks as assigned
  • Support SOX compliance and assist with control improvements
  • Support business partner relationships and apply a client-service mentality towards all deliverables
  • Assist with the implementation of process improvements
Requirements
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing work for appropriate accounting treatment
  • Experience implementing and suggesting process improvements
  • Proactively build relationships with business partners
  • May produce and review internal and external reports with a moderate level of complexity to ensure compliance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Finance/Accounting/business qualification or related disciplines
  • Working knowledge of GAAP with legal entity and treasury accounting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Internal Control concepts
  • Driven by a continual process improvement agenda, demonstrated through challenging and improving processes
  • Detailed orientated with strong analytical and financial skills supported by excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience operating in a diverse, multi-functional finance group across time zones is a plus
  • Must be able to integrate knowledge across various disciplines and work across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Independent worker and thinker with the ability to follow up on time-sensitive issues, with the ability to drive others
  • A team player with the ability to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships across multiple levels and organizational boundaries
