Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for assessing, selecting, and implementing engineering techniques to devise cost-effective and efficient methods for producing components and assemblies. This role involves contributing to cost development and preparing manufacturing specifications for various operational workstations. The engineer will establish effective standards, procedures, and processes to ensure product compliance with specifications and recommend design modifications to enhance reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and manage product documentation related to engineering drawings and PFMEA, including initial releases and revisions.

- Analyze products to identify opportunities for reducing manufacturing costs through value analysis, material substitution, process modifications, and make/buy decisions. Suggest rearrangements of manufacturing facilities as needed.

- Create clear and concise manufacturing specifications and instructions to uphold quality and ensure a seamless workflow throughout the production facility.

- Provide on-site support during the manufacturing process, validate standards, and update manufacturing specifications accordingly.

- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of factory testing equipment.

- Develop workmanship standards to facilitate manufacturing and inspection processes, ensuring adherence to specifications.

- Participate in cost reduction initiatives by analyzing manufacturing costs.

- Ensure that manufacturing facilities, tools, and testing equipment are available to meet production demands.

- Conduct manufacturing studies that lead to recommendations for improved methods, procedures, and equipment utilization.

- Assess plant capacity and capabilities, recommending actions to optimize workload absorption.

- Evaluate and process defective materials.

- Perform root cause analysis for both internal and external failures.

- Actively engage in SAFETY, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, and TRAINING initiatives, which include but are not limited to: A3 Certification projects, STOP Observations, Monthly Safety Audits, SQDC board maintenance, KPI management for the area, proposing and executing Cost Improvement Projects, and maintaining LSW sheets.

Additional Responsibilities

  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Proven expertise in Good Manufacturing Practices related to NC or CNC machinery, metal forming, joining, and assembly processes.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
