About the Role

Canonical is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in building a comprehensive automation suite to provide multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions for the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a distributed team to design and develop high-quality, idiomatic Python code for creating new features and automating data platform operations.
  • Debug issues and interact with upstream communities publicly to ensure the smooth operation of our data platforms.
  • Work with talented engineers, including experts in various fields, to discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions.
  • Develop domain-specific expertise on Big Data platforms and provide guidance to other teams within Canonical.
Requirements
  • Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
  • Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems, such as Kafka and Spark.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience operating and managing other data platform technologies, SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch, etc.).
