PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for leading the payroll function as part of the Fresenius Medical Care team. The incumbent will supervise the ongoing activities within the assigned function(s), exercising judgment in the analysis and interpretation of payroll policies and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise the daily operations of the payroll team, including establishing mutual goals, assigning tasks, and maintaining schedules.
  2. Ensure all activities of the payroll function adhere to company policies and procedures, wage & hour laws, Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and other applicable requirements.
  3. Ensure time & attendance data and human resources management system (HRMS) data is reconciled within defined payroll deadlines.
  4. Review data submitted by direct reports on a routine basis.
  5. Prepare payroll reports on a routine basis as required by management and applicable governing agencies.
  6. Provide support and guidance on diverse payroll issues; researching and resolving complex issues escalated by direct reports as needed.
  7. Provide direct supervision of the assigned team(s) through ongoing leadership and guidance, partnering with Human Resources on employee matters.
  8. Assist with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor.
  9. The Payroll Supervisor is directly responsible for overseeing a team of payroll professionals in a shared services environment.
  10. Responsible for daily operations related to the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, time and attendance activities, wage statements, garnishments, and overall daily staffing supervision.
  11. The Payroll Supervisor actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
  12. Utilizes independent judgement when providing guidance and support to the payroll staff for issue resolution, training, and coaching.
  13. Establishes and maintains an interactive relationship with the Call Center to ensure customer service goals are met by the payroll staff.
  14. Encourages the staff to engage in continuous improvement processes.
  15. Responsible for documenting and implementing new process improvement ideas.
  16. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in management, attending educational workshops, and reviewing professional publications.
  17. Available outside of normal business hours for support needs.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
  19. Serves as back up to the peer Supervisor as well as the Payroll Manager.
