This role is responsible for providing technical expertise for formation chemical conversion processes. The successful candidate will serve as the technical subject matter expert for assigned chemical processes throughout the product life cycle, from development to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidate formation programs across plants to optimize practices.
- Support technical knowledge for materials, process, and design physics and chemistry, including lead-acid battery electrochemistry, synthesis, and characterization of materials related to the battery industry.
- Develop and execute design of experiments for hypothesis testing using lab techniques to validate battery materials, following statistical protocols at lab and plant levels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and launch new lead-acid battery formation designs, ensuring compliance with automotive industry rules and regulations.
- Harmonize existing formation designs across the global Clarios organization, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Lead and support the development of global test methods and specifications for analysis and valuation of formation at lab and manufacturing levels.
- Stay up-to-date with patent applications and claims related to formation processes.
- Support failure analysis and optimization of products, processes, and formation for customers and manufacturing plants using lab techniques, statistical tools, and quality tools.
- Contribute to customer requirements clarification and support internal engineering teams in customer discussions and meetings.
- Support the entire life cycle of batteries on strategic projects for suppliers and customers.
- Collaborate with external institutions and Clarios' internal engineering academy for training purposes.
- Support the review of assigned projects using Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Manage and contribute to the development of Design Guidelines.
- Identify best practices, document, and implement them across regions.

Requirements:
- Degree in chemistry, physics, or materials engineering
- Scientific maturity and technical expertise
- Engineering experience in lead-acid battery formation for the automotive industry, including materials, chemistry, R&D, and lab testing
- Fundamental understanding and experience of processes, materials, design physics, and chemistry related to lead-acid battery electrochemistry
- Expertise in advanced Pb-acid battery materials, chemistry, and physics for lead-acid battery materials and electrochemistry assessment
- Experience with statistical tools and quality tools for failure analysis and problem-solving
- Experience with product launching according to automotive industry rules and regulations
- Hands-on experience in product performance, battery testing, and battery recycling for automotive systems
- Hands-on experience in Pb-acid manufacturing processes
- Language proficiency in English
- Professional software skills, including MS Office and statistical software
- Strong communication skills
