Job Description: Senior Construction Cost Estimator

Key Responsibilities:



  • Prepare detailed estimations according to all design phases.
  • Monitor, control, and prepare valuations for various project components.
  • Participate in value engineering sessions to optimize project costs.
  • Analyse change orders and develop the primary project budget.
  • Develop progress measurement criteria with vendors to ensure accurate cost tracking.
  • Collaborate with the team to collect cost market data and support quotation processes.
  • Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
  • Quantify materials and labour for all phases of a project.
  • Prepare cost benefit analyses to inform project decisions.
  • Review project budgets after design package issuance and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate in creating recommendation reports and participate in weekly project meetings.
  • Issue weekly progress reports on project costs, including forecasting reimbursable expenses.


Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:



  • Degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveyor, Engineering, Architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in construction or quantity surveying.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction costs and commercial project documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
  • Fluency in English is required.


Desirable Qualifications:

Additional Skills:



  • Working towards RICS membership or recently chartered.
  • Experience with software systems such as CostX, CATO, BIM Measure.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.


Salary:


£60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
