Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical circuits and systems for our power electronics products. This will involve working closely with our systems engineers and program teams to ensure that our products meet the highest technical and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical circuits and systems for power electronics products
  • Conduct electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs
  • Specify, identify, select, and test key electrical components
  • Create design and layout of circuit boards, substrates, and electrical interconnects/bus structures
  • Develop optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solutions utilizing balanced requirements to meet schedule, technical, and cost constraints
  • Work with BorgWarner systems engineers and program teams to ensure proper allocation of requirements and verification of those requirements allocated to the electrical competency
  • Support BorgWarner product development team with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations
  • Understand vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics subsystem and support systems engineering and application engineering to investigate vehicle systems issues
  • Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, and verification of power electronics products
  • Support best techniques/procedure and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures
  • Documents and shares best-practices
Requirements
  • BS Electrical Engineering required
  • 10 years' experience required in some combination of the following areas or an engineering internship in a related field: Automotive electronics product development
  • Power Electronics circuits design, specifically motor drive inverters
  • Modelling, simulating, and testing of power electronics
  • Familiar with analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of designing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Engineering internship experience in a manufacturing/engineering industry preferred
  • Understanding of engineering theories related to designated engineering function and applies those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations
  • Willingness/ability to travel 5% both domestically and internationally
