Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced API Tester Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing test cases for APIs, ensuring they meet functionality, performance, reliability, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities- Test Planning and Design:
Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on API specifications and requirements. Identify test scenarios, including positive, negative, edge, and performance cases, to validate API functionality. - Test Execution:
Execute automated and manual tests to verify API functionality, performance, reliability, and security. Use testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, Selenium, RestAssured) to automate testing processes. Experience with OpenAPI or Swagger for API Spec. - Defect Identification and Reporting:
Identify, document, and report defects, inconsistencies, and issues in the APIs. Work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues. - Continuous Improvement:
Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and coverage. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and tools in API testing. - Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA engineers, product managers, and business analysts, to ensure comprehensive test coverage. Provide feedback on API design and functionality from a testing perspective. - Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test results, and defect reports. Contribute to the documentation of API testing standards and best practices. - Security and Performance Testing:
Conduct security testing to identify potential vulnerabilities in the APIs. Perform performance testing to assess the scalability and responsiveness of the APIs under various load conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in API testing, including both manual and automated testing.
- Strong understanding of RESTful and/or SOAP APIs, including knowledge of JSON, XML, and HTTP protocols.
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, RestAssured).
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with performance and security testing.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) for test automation.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
