We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Vertiv Co. as a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a key role in our product development team, responsible for designing and developing new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop new CRAC products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches.
- Perform complex engineering calculations to verify design requirements, including stress calculations, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex problems, leveraging ingenuity and creativity to drive business growth.
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives and design changes to improve product efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement product changes to resolve field issues and support the service department.
- Occasional use of CFD/FEA software to analyze and optimize product performance.
- Collaborate with the software team to develop and verify CRAC system controls.
- Plan and oversee performance testing (ASHRE/AHRI) to validate designs, controls, and analytical models.
- Create and validate analytical performance models to ensure accurate product performance.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in new product development as an individual contributor.
- Understanding of electrical schematic and pneumatic drawings (P&ID).
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team, with excellent project management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably CREO 4.0 and greater.
- Experience with analytical performance models and 2-Phase heat transfer fluids.
- Experience writing performance test requests, with a preference for ASHRE/AHRI.
- Knowledge of psychometric charts and refrigeration cycles.
- Basic knowledge of CFD and/or FEA software, preferably Ansys.
- Understanding of manufacturing limitations and material properties.
