About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Portfolio Optimization Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Transaction Banking team, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Customer Focus: Champion a customer-centric culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Portfolio Optimization: Optimize the profitability of GBM's product portfolio by analyzing, designing, and recommending strategies in conjunction with product owners and cross-functional partners.
  3. Revenue Growth: Work with the pricing and analytic teams to drive revenues and identify efficiencies.
  4. Business Case Development: Assess the economic and financial feasibility of new product opportunities, ensuring a reasonable rate of return for services sold, provide sound competitive position, and making compelling recommendations.
  5. Data-Driven Decision Making: Build data-driven, scenario-based models to evaluate business impact on strategic and business development initiatives and monitor key portfolio KPIs.
  6. Business Planning: Develop business cases and supporting presentations for identified opportunities, that support the growth and maintenance of the business.
  7. Market Research: Research, analyze, and synthesize data, trends, leading practices, and other business intelligence in support of business plans.
  8. Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of business cases and strategic plans for new initiatives to optimize revenue opportunities.
  9. Forecasting and Planning: Lead the consolidated forecasting and planning cycles on behalf of product owners and ensure the product roadmap is accurately represented.
  10. Product Gap Analysis: Identify product gaps with respect to customer needs, competitive offerings, and trends.
  11. Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly financial summaries for cross-portfolio product team and Sr. Leadership.
  12. Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  13. Operational Efficiency: Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
Requirements
  1. Education: 3-5 years experience with an undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Economics. Graduate degree or financial designation is preferred.
  2. Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Power BI, SQL, MS Excel.
  3. Financial Modeling: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, including the ability to build and analyze complex financial models.
  4. Data Visualization: Expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI, to source large data sets and apply complex transformation to produce key business insights and support business decision making.
  5. SQL: Expertise in SQL, including the ability to extract data from multiple sources such as data warehouses, data lakes, and relational databases.
  6. Decision Making: Strong decision making, forward thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  7. Results Orientation: Results oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs, and mitigate risks.
  8. Industry Knowledge: Experience in Cash Management and Payments industry, or In-depth understanding of delivery networks of financial products and services within the context of the Bank's sales and service strategies across the various delivery channels is an asset.
  9. Project Management: Experience working on large projects using industry-standard delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum/Kanban) and tools (JIRA/Confluence) is an asset.
