Job Title: Materials Manager

Job Summary:

The Materials Manager is a key member of the Knorr Bremse Group team, responsible for overseeing the acquisition and utilization of all materials employed in the production of finished products. This role involves directing the supply base to procure raw stock, planning teams to ensure proper inventory levels, and production teams to adhere to disposition procedures and line accumulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Analyze and review inventory levels of raw materials based on anticipated production levels, lead time requirements, inventory costs, and turnover rates to achieve maximum efficiency and cost savings.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Ensure optimum inventory levels and verify inventories by overseeing physical inventories or cycle count programs.
  • Procurement and Logistics: Manage on-time material delivery for both raw material (inbound) and OEM/AM/STO (outbound) to meet business needs.
  • Team Leadership: Ensure adequate headcount available to support business needs and effectively recruit, train, and retain key staff within the materials group.
  • Process Improvement: Establish, maintain, publish, and utilize effective management measurement tools to drive business performance.
  • Warehouse and Shipping Management: Oversee the activities of the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehousing functions to ensure timely loading and shipping of finished goods, efficient utilization of space and personnel, and internal logistics of material to ensure organized material flow.
  • System Implementation: Implement and maintain the SAP system to support overall organization expectations and functional inventory flow responsibilities.
  • Inventory Disposition: Support the identification of excess and obsolete inventory items and partner with manufacturing personnel to develop disposition actions.
  • Supply Base Management: Coordinate efforts with the corporate supply base management team to work directly with suppliers (international and domestic) to resolve material issues and concerns.
  • Quality Assurance: Have the authority to stop the production line when a quality problem or defect is noticed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Active member of the CR committee, master data governance, control CR roll-ups, request CR's to resolve bill of materials issues.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree – Business Administration or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years progressive experience in Purchasing, Production Control, Inventory Control, Traffic, and Materials Management + MRPII.
  • Certification: CPIM Certification preferred.
