About the Role

Corning is a global leader in innovation, and we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer III to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving process improvements, developing new products, and leading cross-functional projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide subject matter expertise in engineering to improve product, process, and/or equipment performance, and advance the innovation process.
  • Design and analyze first-generation and next-generation products, processes, and/or equipment in support of new product/technology introductions.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts, provide technical expertise, and ensure timely resolution of short-term process and equipment issues.
  • Provide direction to other technicians/engineers, coach junior engineers, and guide maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and lead projects to get to the root cause of issues and implement permanent solutions.
  • Recommend and implement permanent solutions to long-term performance issues and improve existing and new technologies and processes.
  • Develop and lead areas of the manufacturing and/or technical roadmap, and document material, process, and/or equipment to protect and contribute to Intellectual Property improvements.
  • Proficient in the use of statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem-solving and process/product improvement.
  • Identify, justify, and implement cost reduction, capacity enhancement, capital equipment, and other improvement initiatives.
  • Introduce new products and technologies, and meet all Environmental, Safety, and Health requirements.
  • Develop SME knowledge of material, process, and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.
  • Track the effectiveness of projects and implemented cost reductions, using up-time, cost, productivity, and other appropriate measures.
  • Lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in process control/discipline, SPC, SQC, OEE, Designed Experiments, and other Performance Excellence processes.
  • Design and/or specify new equipment or modify existing equipment to continuously improve process performance, and coordinate installation, debugging, and initial operation of new equipment and systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in a technical field.
  • Yellow Belt Training.
  • Lean Fundamentals.
  • Track record of delivering results.
  • Broad manufacturing and engineering experiences.
  • Project leadership (scope to implementation).
  • Coaching and developing junior engineers/technicians.
  • Manufacturing Workshops (MPIW or equivalent).
  • Bachelor of Science (Engineering) or Master of Science (Engineering or Applied Science).
  • Green Belt certification.
  • Black Belt (6 Sigma or Innovation) training.
  • Project and/or manufacturing financial management knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Innovation Stage-gate processes.
