About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Android Software Engineer to join our team at Capital One National Association. As a key member of our mobile development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality Android applications that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Android Client Code Solutions

Design and develop Android client code solutions that deliver on product strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines, and principles.

  1. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams

Partner with software engineers, UX/UI designers, quality engineers, product owners/analysts to deliver high-performing, quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful, and powerful in their simplicity.

  1. Participate in Agile Ceremonies

Actively participate in all team agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality.

  1. Advocate for the Mobile Platform

Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities.

  1. Stay Up-to-Date with Mobile Technologies

Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, 3rd-party libraries, etc.).

  1. Mentor Junior Team Members

Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team.

  1. Engage with Developers Across Disciplines

Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.).

  1. Lead Delivery of Major Components

Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects.

  1. Share Best Practices and Improve Processes

Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams.

  1. Identify and Solve Technical Obstacles

Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions.

  1. Review Pull Requests

Review pull requests and ensure adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms.

  1. Grow and Provide SME Leadership

Grow and provide SME-level leadership while managing other mobile developers.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

  1. Professional Software Engineering Experience

At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply).

  1. Android Application Development Experience

At least 3 years of experience building Android applications.

  1. Kotlin Experience

At least 3 years of experience with Kotlin.

  1. People Management Experience

At least 2 years of people management experience.
