Senior Intellectual Property Manager

CIMMYT seeks a skilled professional to join its Legal Department as a Senior Intellectual Property Manager. This role will be based at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, State of Mexico.
The selected candidate will play a crucial part in Contract Life Cycle Management, focusing on grants, subgrants, research collaborations, consultancy agreements, vendor contracts, leases, host country agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other ad hoc agreements with national and international partners. They will also support the implementation of intellectual property policies and CGIAR Intellectual Asset Principles.
This position requires expertise in Intellectual Property law, technology transfer, licensing, and patent law, with a strong focus on contract management and compliance. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in IP law within a company, research organization, or law firm. A Master's degree or specialization in Intellectual Property or Technology Transfer is highly desirable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and negotiating research and development agreements, technology license agreements, material transfer agreements, and other Intellectual Asset-related contracts.
- Providing legal guidance to scientists and managers on intellectual property matters, including legislation and regulations across various jurisdictions related to IP, plant genetic resources, biosafety, data privacy, digital content, freedom to operate, and other relevant regulatory issues.
- Participating in process optimization for legal services and guidelines, ensuring all critical documents have templates that are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Mentorship and educational support to team members and stakeholders in Intellectual Asset management.
- Representing the Legal Department and CIMMYT before different authorities and forums.

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
