Job Description

ZF Friedrichshafen AG is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer- Program to join our team. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for a defined program, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Management: Serve as the functional expert for all purchasing activities related to a defined program, including new program introduction and management of components through the life cycle of a program.
  • Cost Management: Manage Bill of Material cost for a program or set of parts within a program, develop cost-saving methods and opportunities to promote overall business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness.
  • Supplier Management: Analyze the North American supply base, prepare and recommend suppliers to be added or removed from the approved supplier list, and nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier List.
  • Market Research: Perform market research and monitor changes/trends for purposes of benchmarking and cost controlling.
  • Part Family Strategies: Develop part family strategies in concert with commodity strategies.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Manage the supply base in regards to internal and intra-company initiatives, i.e. cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Investigate optimal suppliers for materials in a timely manner through the effective use of industry techniques, procedures, and planning methods, while complying with ZF company policy.
  • Tracking and Reporting: Track costs and statuses of negotiations, while maintaining agreements with suppliers.
  • Cost Management and Analysis: Explore methods/materials for total cost management and cost structure analysis.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics or related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of advanced experience in a professional purchasing capacity, including technical/commodity purchasing, purchasing project management, purchasing management, etc.
  • Skills: Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business communications, as well as experience with supplier analysis and evaluation, supplier bidding process and complex negotiations, APQP and/or project management tools and methods.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project etc.) and experience with SAP.
