Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at FedEx Express Latin America and Caribbean Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining sources of supply for corporate materials, equipment, and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to meet corporate requirements of quality, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Procure materials, equipment, or services utilizing purchase orders or contracts.
- Develop and implement programs to dispose of excess equipment, parts, and materials.
- Assist in the development of make/buy decision analyses regarding major commodity groups.
- Investigate improper/inappropriate purchases and business or contract relationships between FedEx and its vendors.
- Develop and implement objective vendor performance history indices/measurements.
- Develop and implement cost reduction, value analysis, and value enhancement programs/projects.
- Assist in developing and coordinating the technical development of buyers and associate buyers.
- Maintain awareness of economic and market trends within assigned commodity groups.
- Advise senior management in procurement decisions and provide guidelines to users regarding contract/purchase order selection.
- Negotiate and make contract/purchase order awards in major critical/high difficulty procurements programs.
- Identify, explore, and develop prime and alternative sources and products/services to provide equipment/materials/services at a better value.
- Investigate, lead, direct, and resolve discrepancies between vendors and FedEx.
- Provide contract breach or renewal notice to users, management, and the legal department.
- Monitor, administer, follow up, and expedite material, equipment, and/or service purchases orders or contracts.
- Develop and implement the program for disposal of unclaimed freight for the Region.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, law, mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
- Five years of professional buying experience in a professional procurement function.
- Experience in negotiations, selection processes, contract formulation, and broad commodity acquisitions.
- Knowledge of procurement computer systems and related interfacing systems.
- Strong negotiation, human relations, analytical, and communications skills.
- Fluent in English.
