As a Category Buyer III at Caterpillar, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's procurement strategy. Your expertise in Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) will enable you to deliver maximum value to the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and execute category strategies, including policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs.
- Identify opportunities for cost reductions, inventory optimization, and quality improvements, while ensuring the soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and suppliers, communicating information effectively while considering production demands and suppliers' conditions.
- Document suppliers' performance on time sensitivity and production, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
- Undergraduate degree from a college or university.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
- Category team or product team experience, with expertise in leading teams, suppliers, and customers to effective solutions.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles as applied by Caterpillar and our suppliers.
- Understanding of QCLDM.
- Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred.
