We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee and enhance quality and delivery standards from our supply chain, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives related to supplier quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits of suppliers' systems and processes as necessary.
- Lead initiatives addressing incoming quality and delivery challenges, including Certificates of Analysis and other component issues.
- Collaborate with purchasing and quality management teams to develop supplier capabilities.
- Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities.
- Review and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate the escalation process for supplier-related issues.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment between plant quality and engineering teams.
- Assist in maintaining the Supplier Requirements Manual.
- Engage with commodity and project buyers to enhance supplier interactions.
- Support programs with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) activities, including:
- Supplier Launch Readiness Reviews
- Supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) verification
- On-site capacity verification observations
- On-site supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) validation
- Sign-off on PPAP documentation
- Willingness to travel within Mexico and the United States as required (approximately 25%).
Job Scope
The Supplier Quality Engineer collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders, including Corporate Procurement, Projects, Plants, and Suppliers, to ensure the achievement of program milestones and supplier performance objectives in accordance with Auria and customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive Business Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Valid B-1 visa for business travel to the United States as necessary.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive sector, with at least 3 years in a quality-focused role within a multinational context.
- Familiarity with advanced quality planning and product validation methodologies (APQP, PPAP) and customer specifications.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3).
- Basic knowledge of ISO Environmental standards and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S).
- Fundamental understanding of Green Belt/Black Belt problem-solving techniques; certification is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of VA/VE principles.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in English.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office, MS Project, and ERP systems (Plex or SAP).
