About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Assistant to join our team as a Senior Financial Operations Specialist for US Government Programs.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience working in similar positions on US-government programs, with a strong background in finance, accounting or related fields.

As a Senior Financial Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and documenting financial operations under the supervision of the Program Finance Manager, coordinating with Mexico-based accounting and law firms and US-based financial officers.

  • You will prepare funding status reporting, monthly financial reporting, estimate-to-completions, estimates-at-completion, and other related financial forecasting/projecting and analysis.
  • You will support and prepare incidents in payroll reports for approximately 60 employees, ensuring that salaries are paid on time and in accordance with employment agreements.
  • You will monitor the Mexico-based bank account and coordinate with the Program Finance Manager to ensure that funds are available for payments.
  • You will schedule and track payments on a weekly basis through the Mexico bank account.
  • You will complete monthly reconciliations of the bank account and the credit card in accordance with project CLINS.
  • You will conduct purchases in accordance with contractual terms and minimum required quotes.
  • You will support the coordination with the Program Finance Manager and the SGI HQ Finance Officer to review and submit monthly invoices to the client.
  • You will track expense forecasts vs actual expenses and other statistical reports.
  • You will prepare financial reports for the Program Finance Manager and Program Director and SGI HQ.
  • You will support, prepare and review travel expense reports for payment process.
  • You will support the escort process to the US Embassy and RSO vetting tasks.
  • You will problem-solve arising issues and propose manners to streamline and improve operations.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • At least 4 years of experience working in similar positions on US-government programs
  • Experience working on cost-reimbursable contracts
  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of State/INL programs preferred
  • Experience in drafting and authoring weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and UNANET
  • Spanish FSI level 4/4 and English FSI level 3/4
  • U.S. citizen or Mexican citizen
