SGI Global LLC is in search of a fluent Spanish-speaking Police Advisor to provide essential support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) in Mexico City, Mexico. This role involves delivering professional and administrative assistance in alignment with the U.S. Foreign Assistance Program to Mexico.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The position is based in Mexico City, Mexico, with potential travel to various locations within Mexico, the United States, and other countries as required.
  • Offer specialized knowledge to INL and Government of Mexico (GOM) officials regarding law enforcement operations, training, and administrative procedures, leveraging extensive experience.
  • Consult with INL personnel on the development, execution, evaluation, and enhancement of police professionalization and capacity-building initiatives, engaging with host nation or interagency partners to contribute to collaborative efforts.
  • Receive direction and assignments from INL Program Officers, collaborate closely with Project Managers, and may travel as necessary to evaluate GOM partner agencies or to assist in overseeing project progress.
  • This position description does not encompass all duties that may be assigned to the incumbent, who will be expected to perform additional responsibilities in accordance with the profile and requirements set forth by INL.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Fluency in Spanish at FSI level 3/3.
  • Fluency in English at FSI level 4/4.
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, law enforcement, public policy, or a related field; or an Associate degree accompanied by five (5) years of relevant experience from an accredited institution; or ten (10) years of pertinent experience in military, law enforcement, international development, international affairs, or public administration.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with U.S. law enforcement or military.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a Department of State (DOS) MRPT security clearance.
  • Familiarity with the Mexican police and/or law enforcement system.
  • Proficient in engaging effectively with senior U.S. and GOM officials.
  • Experience in preparing and authoring weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite.
