The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in shipping and logistics, with a comprehensive understanding of shipping processes and best practices. They will also excel in problem-solving and effectively address any issues that arise in a dynamic environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and operational guidance to a team of hourly non-exempt employees.
- Foster effective employee relations, offering coaching and development opportunities. Make informed employment decisions and ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and established work instructions.
- Review daily shipping requirements to guarantee on-time delivery.
- Anticipate and identify causes of delays in operations and implement appropriate actions to meet schedules.
- Examine bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to establish shipping priorities, work assignments, and necessary shipping methods to meet schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Manage and oversee the finished product within warehouses.
- Coordinate the logistics movements and services required internally.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock for shipping needs.
- Request assistance from the relevant department when any load unit (forklift) experiences a fault.
- Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Conduct housekeeping inspections, consistently monitoring the work area for cleanliness.
- Identify areas for improvement, engage team members in the improvement process, and assess the effectiveness of changes.
- Serve as an escalation point with transport providers.
- Track and report on shipping metrics and performance.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in production supervision within the shipping and logistics sector (Logistics, transportation, production programs, receipt, and shipments).
- Proficient in maintaining basic English conversations.
- Knowledge of CTPAT regulations.
