The role of an Issue Management Officer is a vital part of the issue management organization in Mexico, reporting directly to the In-Business Control Officer Cluster (Sr. IBCO Cluster). The primary objective of this position is to facilitate communication and coordination between managed businesses and the rest of the organization, including the Office of Global Compliance (OGC), serving as the primary point of contact for issues management related matters.

Effective issue management, encompassing early identification, prompt escalation, alignment with global/local policies, and timely resolution, is a top priority for Citi. This accountability is delegated to Business Senior Managers and In-Business Control Officers, who will rely on the Issue Management Officer for issues management expertise and coordination between managed businesses and the organization.

The Issue Management Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring that business managers take ownership of issues, while providing support and guidance on issue management best practices. This includes participating in cross-functional or cross-business issues designed to ensure business compliance with laws, regulations, and policy requirements across key/complex risk levels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing issue management processes and project management methodologies from initiation through implementation, ensuring improved productivity, technology, processes, cost savings, and controls.
  • Supporting various areas of the business from an issue/project perspective, engaging regularly with Senior Business Level Officers, Legal, Risk, and Compliance regarding complex matters.
  • Developing relationships with stakeholders throughout the business unit and company to identify and understand business needs, implementing solutions to improve effectiveness and results.
  • Ensuring a culture of accountability, integrity, and respect within the team.
  • Maintaining ongoing engagement with senior stakeholders and other team members to provide expert guidance and support.

The ideal candidate will possess 5-8 years of control and/or project experience, with a strong attention to detail and quality. They should demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, effective planning and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel. Additionally, they should consistently display clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to make sound business decisions, and experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business performance.

This role requires the ability to present a compelling case for ideas and initiatives through listening and articulating a convincing point of view. The candidate should be able to exercise independence of judgment and autonomy, operate with a limited level of direct supervision, and act as a subject matter expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and/or other team members. A salary range of $80,000 to $120,000 per annum is expected for this position, commensurate with experience.
