POSITION OBJECTIVE

The primary aim of this role is to deliver exceptional and personalized housekeeping services to our guests. This encompasses maintaining superior cleanliness standards in guest staterooms and public areas while ensuring outstanding customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the entire housekeeping operations onboard.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure cleanliness of all staterooms and communal areas.
  • Monitor and follow up on maintenance requests.
  • Manage the receipt and distribution of guest laundry.
  • Control and return of uniforms for Viking River Cruises staff.
  • Facilitate smooth operations during embarkation days.
  • Uphold impeccable cleanliness and organization within the housekeeping department.
  • Assist with stateroom cleaning and laundry duties as necessary.
  • Implement procedures in accordance with company standards and HACCP regulations.
  • Regularly care for onboard plants and flowers.
  • Prepare daily programs for distribution and manage gift orders and turndown services.
  • Assist in the opening and closing of ships at the beginning and end of the season.
  • Lead and motivate the housekeeping team.
  • Conduct training sessions for the housekeeping staff.
  • Supervise the housekeeping team and ensure adherence to duties and responsibilities.
  • Administer performance reviews.
  • Fill in for Stateroom Stewards/esses as needed.
  • Implement infection control and safety measures.
  • Participate in the loading and proper stocking of supplies.
  • Manage cost control and compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Order stock and cleaning supplies in collaboration with the Hotel Manager.
  • Ensure proper storage of supplies and establish par levels.
  • Conduct inventory in line with company protocols.
  • Lead the departmental daily meetings.
  • Address guest complaints promptly or escalate as necessary, ensuring guests are informed of actions taken.
  • Assist in Guest Services as directed by management.

TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION

Demonstrate flexibility by working varied hours as scheduled by management, maintaining a positive attitude even under pressure, and representing the company positively.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Achieve departmental goals as a cohesive housekeeping team, with a strong commitment to the company's objectives.

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE

Acquire comprehensive knowledge of all itinerary-related ports and shore excursions, as well as the daily program.

SECURITY AND SAFETY

Maintain thorough knowledge of safety and security protocols, participating in all required training sessions related to safety, fire prevention, and evacuation procedures.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • High School Diploma required; Hospitality degree (BA, MBA) preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an upscale cruise line or hotel in a similar role.
  • Excellent English communication skills with a focus on service and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Maintain high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.
  • Physical stamina for extensive walking and standing.
  • Flexible and resilient under pressure, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork.
