About the Role:

Our Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring optimum levels of quality and output. As a manufacturing engineer, you will be an expert in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques. You will possess extensive knowledge of associated manufacturing processes including optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment.

We enable our business unit plants to reach Operating Advantage (TOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. You will design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms, applying them for new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production.

The teams also support Product Development in selecting and optimizing tools for piece part production and selecting suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as supporting research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead process improvements for stamping, molding or assembly related topics.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve equipment safety, performance, OEE, PFMEA robustness, COPQ reduction, Safety.
  • Support current & introduction of new product and processes within the Engineering Organization. Support operations on Value Stream and lead process continuous improvement process. Responsible for Lean / TOA tools related with the Engineering function.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. Includes operation, control and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency.
  • Analyze, create and keep production standards & job methods with purpose of optimizing plant operations.
  • Collaborate with product engineering to drive design intent products and Poka-Yoke concepts integration during concept and design phases to achieve 6 sigma quality level and cost targets.
  • Participate on designs and develops manufacturing process platforms and automation platforms and applies these for realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production.
  • Develop forward looking plans along with plants for capital spending. Prepare justification proposals, document specifications, develop performance requirements and oversee project planning and execution.
  • Automation projects for assembly & core processes.
What We Are Looking For:

Education:

  • BA/BS degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline, advanced engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Lean six sigma Expert/Black belt preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • At least 10 years operational and/or technical experiences within manufacturing with detailed knowledge of current manufacturing technologies for precision molding and assembly automation techniques.
  • Experience in handling complex projects that require planning, costing, and justification of capital investment that results in quantifying improvements to the productive processes. Updated in the knowledge of techniques of World Class Manufacturing, Quality total administration and advanced quality planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High technical skills to troubleshoot/repair fully automatic equipment and lead engineering team for machine improvements/repair. Controls and Mechanical skills desired.
  • High technical skills in Header processes (Plastic + Bending terminal high speed assembly).
  • Knowledge in techniques and formats: SPC, FMEA's, control plans, etc.
  • Ability to train and develop engineers under his/her supervision.
  • Knowledge on Cable Assembly processes, Labor Intensive Operations, Semiautomatic and Automatic Assembly Processes.
  • Knowledge on Core Processes as Injection Molding, Stamping and Plating (desired).
  • Excellent commercial and business acumen with deep experience in analyzing supplier technologies and capabilities; experienced in matrix management with track record of being able to manage by influence and coordinate cross business unit activities.
  • Possess working knowledge of SAP, CAD, applicable TE systems (SAP).
  • Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement skills and knowledge - kaizen, kanban, 5s, 8d, Just in Time, and Cost improvement concepts.
  • IATF Audits.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
