About the Role:

The High-Profile Employee Relations Strategist will be responsible for developing and directing Micron Semiconductor Mexico (MSM) Employee Relations (ER) strategies. This individual will influence local leaders in the thought process and the design of ER strategies, programs, and policies, ensuring ER processes are understood and consistently applied by Micron.

This role will lead or oversee Mexico and North America workplace investigations in accordance with ER's global investigation policy and process. The successful candidate will respond to employee issues, grievances, and disputes in line with our People Values, drive expedient resolutions, escalate as required, and ensure appropriate and quality communication and documentation is in place.

The High-Profile Employee Relations Strategist will provide ER expertise, consultation, and market insights regarding the labor environment in Mexico, including benchmarking industry best practices for people policies and practices, early warning systems for labor risks and non-compliance, and monitoring trends in labor standards, laws, and government regulations for proactive action.

Additionally, this individual will advise People Organization partners, employees, and business leadership and managers on people management challenges, policies, procedures, and employment laws. They will partner with global business people partners (GBPPs) and global executive people partners (GEBPs) and with Centers of Excellence (COEs), including the global people service center team, benefits, compensation, to provide guidance and recommendations to resolve team member issues and to enhance People organization programs.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and direct Micron Semiconductor Mexico (MSM) Employee Relations (ER) strategies, influencing local leaders in the thought process and the design of ER strategies, programs, and policies.
  • Lead or oversee Mexico and North America workplace investigations in accordance with ER's global investigation policy and process.
  • Respond to employee issues, grievances, and disputes in line with our People Values.
  • Provide ER expertise, consultation, and market insights regarding the labor environment in Mexico.
  • Advise People Organization partners, employees, and business leadership and managers on people management challenges, policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Partner with global business people partners (GBPPs) and global executive people partners (GEBPs) and with Centers of Excellence (COEs).
  • Work with Legal department to effectively manage team member issues.
  • Conduct relevant, effective leader trainings.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor team member separations, severance, and restructuring activities.
  • Provide leadership and support in labor union relations.
  • Utilize data analytics to generate insights that inform and improve employee relations strategies.
  • Work with GBPPs/GEBPs and business leaders to address TM Performance Support Plans.
  • Establish and develop a network with global ER counterparts, Legal, and People leaders.

Requirements:

  • Eight years of work experience relevant to Employee Relations, preferably in the manufacturing or technology sector, in leadership positions.
  • Direct experience in labor relations, with a strong understanding, appreciation, and application of Mexican and US labor law and practices particularly in the State of Jalisco, as well as global labor standards and issues.
  • Critical thinking skills, keen sense of urgency, independent decision making, exacting standards of compliance, and passion about doing the right thing for the company and its people.
  • Strong people skills, with a good command of written and spoken English.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive and well-organized ideas in both written and verbal form.
  • Able to influence and build trusting relationships.
  • Able to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, demanding environment, and appropriately manage conflict.
  • Able to travel for work to any North America Micron location, should the need arise.
