About the Role
As a key member of the HSBC Compliance Assurance team, you will be responsible for contributing to and implementing the ongoing strategic activities of the CA function for the businesses in Latin America and Mexico (LAM). Your primary goal will be to ensure the effectiveness of compliance risk management across the organization.
This role reports directly to the Regional Head of Compliance Assurance Mexico and LAM and involves deputizing for them as needed. You will provide insight into the effectiveness of Compliance policies and procedures by identifying, reporting, and escalating issues requiring senior management attention.
Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior regional business management and other functional stakeholders. This involves attending regional and country committees, as defined locally.
You will also have direct line management responsibility for a team of Assurance professionals within Mexico, managing local resources and costs in-line with agreed budgets.
Main Activities
- Execute the CA strategy for the LAM CA function, assessing the effectiveness of Compliance controls.
- Inform Risk Owners, Control Owners, and Risk Stewards of the design and operational effectiveness of controls within their area of oversight and control.
- Proactively monitor and identify key emerging risks and/or trends to ensure ongoing development of the Assurance programme.
- Drive consistent reporting and escalation of issues identified through CA activities.
- Operate within the Risk Management Framework (RMF), aligning with risk assessment methodology and prioritization of risks, controls, and issues.
Requirements
- Extensive Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime knowledge with experience in assurance or testing activities.
- Relevant external financial services qualification.
- A clear understanding of regulatory and financial crime compliance risk within the global financial services industry.
- Demonstrable track record in leading complex global organizations.
- Excellent people management capabilities and ability to build positive partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Lateral thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong decision-making capability and English language proficiency.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
