Senior Web Developer for E-Business Initiatives

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Web Developer to join our DPE group. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in web application development using Java and web technologies, with a strong understanding of semantic HTML and CSS. Experience with JavaScript using Vue 2 or 3, Git + Github, Docker, and Kubernetes is also required.

This role will involve developing and implementing E-Business initiatives and technical projects, working closely with product managers, Scrum Master, Product Owner, and architects to design, develop, unit test, debug, and maintain web applications, web services, and other related features. The candidate must be able to translate business needs into effective technical solutions using Java, AWS, JavaScript, and other E-Business technologies.

The Senior Web Developer will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of E-Commerce systems and services, search and browse web systems that support the company's E-Commerce business objectives. Additionally, the candidate will participate in the migration of legacy applications into new cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities include delivering sophisticated web applications on schedule with high reliability and scalability, producing high-quality code, testing all delivered work, and building documentation. The candidate will also participate in production deployment and provide assistance to the production support group as needed.

Required skills include experience with Spring Boot, AWS services such as DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, experience working in Agile development environments, and tools like Jira. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also essential, as well as the ability to communicate efficiently with managers, business analysts, web engineers, architects, and other technical departments.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience. At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we offer a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Job Functions:

1. Delivery of sophisticated web applications on schedule with high reliability and scalability.

2. Produce high quality code, test all delivered work and build documentation.

3. Work closely with product managers, Scrum Master, Product Owner, and architects to design, develop, unit test, debug and maintain web applications, web services and other related features based on functional requirements and scope of work.

4. Supply and confirm to DE adopted software development standards.

5. Participate in production deployment and provide assistance to the production support group as needed.

6. Participate in performance tuning of web applications.

Required Skills:

  • 2-4+ years of experience of web application development in Java or other web technologies
  • 1-2+ years of experience with using Spring Boot
  • A solid understanding of semantic HTML and CSS
  • Experience with JavaScript using Vue 2 or 3
  • Git + Github (Github Actions is a plus)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, etc. is a plus

Additional skills:

Experience working in Agile development environment and tools like Jira would be a plus. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to communicate efficiently with managers, business analysts, web engineers, architects and other technical departments.
