The Control Management Risk ID, Assessment, Testing and Reporting team plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and reporting on Operational Risk within BU processes for GCS. This ensures adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policy, and enhances the BU's resilience by managing inherent and residual risk effectively.

Sr Manager of Control Management Risk Assessment: We are seeking an experienced Sr Manager to lead our Control Management Risk Assessment function. As a key member of the GCS team, you will collaborate with multiple partners across business units, functional areas, and geographies to ensure control management is embedded in our organization's day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments throughout business processes and systems to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of risk awareness and ownership among business unit leaders, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to manage operational risk effectively.
  • Develop and maintain robust control monitoring programs, including periodic reviews and updates to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with senior management to provide actionable insights on operational risk trends, emerging issues, and root causes, informing informed decision-making.
  • Compile thematic risk reports to provide detailed analysis on current risk levels, emerging trends, and root causes, enabling business units to take proactive measures to mitigate risk.
  • Categorize controls and map them against risks and processes to ensure effective risk management practices are implemented.
  • Support business units in identifying risks and developing strategies to address them, including product changes or improved controls as needed.
  • Promote risk management best practices within the organization, fostering a culture of risk awareness and ownership.
  • Develop and maintain risk dashboards and key risk indicators (KRIs) for ongoing monitoring and reporting.
  • Maintain an up-to-date risk register(s) and develop risk profiles to facilitate informed decision-making.
