Manufacturing Financial Operations Manager

Position Overview

The Plant Controller plays a vital role as a business partner, collaborating with plant, operations, and financial management teams to effectively manage and control the plant's financial responsibilities. This includes managing cost statements, capital and inventory reconciliations, and accountability reporting, including budget, forecasts, and variance analysis. The Plant Controller will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for plant performance improvement and evaluating the return on capital investments while protecting company assets. This role may involve supervising analysts or other financial staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and identify and correct weaknesses
  • Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company-established guidelines
  • Enforce corporate policies and procedures
  • Assist external and internal auditors by providing clear supporting explanations and documents
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of physical inventories, including analysis and reporting of results
  • Perform month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting
  • Communicate monthly reports of results, periodic forecasts, and annual plant operating plan/budget, including generation of reports as necessary
  • Develop templates and consolidate monthly analyses and reports for actual vs budget/prior year results and variance analysis
  • Calculate the annual standard cost for products produced in the plant

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of cost accounting principles for manufacturing facilities
  • Expert knowledge of all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Expert knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting principles
  • Expert knowledge of computer use and software such as Excel and PowerPoint
  • Expert knowledge of algebraic equation writing using Excel worksheets
  • Solid knowledge of conducting business in a manufacturing and fabrication environment
  • Solid knowledge of federal and state Department of Labor Wage and Hour Laws for payroll processing
  • Solid knowledge of SAP and data extrapolation for Accounting/Finance purposes
  • Solid knowledge of communication to explain simple and complex concepts in written or verbal form
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including an estimated $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, you can expect a generous benefits package, including major medical expenses and life insurance, vacation days, paid time off, and a Christmas bonus.
