Job Description Summary

The Controls Legacy Internship at GE Aerospace offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various technologies and disciplines. As an intern, you will be part of an intensive combination of on-the-job training and exposure to multiple areas of the industry.

This internship provides students with the chance to practice end-to-end delivery of a service through ongoing internal client engagement, partnering with technical teams, and coordination of all required activities and milestones.

Main Topics of Intern Training

Key areas of focus for interns include:

  • Identifying and working with main stakeholders and experts on each test subsystem.
  • Supporting multi-disciplinary team activities.
  • Efficiently communicating status and describing control systems to upper management, technical leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Being aware of and timely communicating any issues (technical and non-technical) to technical leaders and management.
  • Reviewing self-deliverables and providing status of the team to key stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities

As a Controls Legacy Intern, you will execute, with guidance from senior engineering team members, the analysis, design, test, and integration activities required to deliver engine controls solutions for GE Aerospace products. Key activities include:

  • Designing and implementing software for embedded devices and systems, from creation to production and deployment.
  • Designing, implementing, testing, and debugging control system software.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the system after development.
  • Improving the system's efficiency and stability after development.
  • Collaborating with customers to create systems based on their needs.
  • Documenting activities and providing support to field investigations.
Qualifications/Requirements

To be eligible for this internship, you must be an engineering student at least in the 6th semester from an accredited college. You should also demonstrate:

  • Proven academic excellence throughout your educational career.
  • Skills to quickly learn new programming languages and technologies.
  • Ability to establish common goals and objectives.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Presentation skills: ability to present own work results.
Desired Characteristics

We are looking for technology enthusiasts with a passion for both software and hardware technology. Leadership experience, either inside or outside the classroom, is also desirable. Additional qualifications include:

  • Programming skills in C, C++, or Python.
  • Knowledge of aircraft engines performance and operational parameters.
  • Basic knowledge of control theory and/or experience.
  • Experience in digital signal processing techniques.
  • Experience in generating and acquiring analog and digital signals.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with sensors and their associated physical phenomena.
