Job Purpose

The Construction Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and the communities we serve. This role is responsible for developing and implementing safety plans, conducting risk assessments, and providing training and guidance to ensure compliance with Unilever's safety standards and local regulations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project-specific safety plans to ensure compliance with Unilever's safety requirements and local regulations.
  • Deploy the global SHE strategy, policy, and standards in the site to achieve excellent sustainable results.
  • Manage teams responsible for delivering safety, occupational health, and environment results.
  • Drive safety and environment risk assessment and develop/implement appropriate controls.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever Safety Behavior Observation (SBO) Program and support deployment in the site.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever SHE-400 standards series related to Construction Safety, contractor management, and high-risk activities supervision.
  • Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through PSSP Governance.
  • Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards.
  • Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health.
  • Assist the CS Manager and Site Leader to develop and lead the internal crisis committees and safety committee, support during serious incident investigation and analysis.
  • Advise LT in all accident/incident investigations.
  • Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations, and deep compliance audits.
  • Develop and deploy internal SHE audits and inspection systems, participate in audits of other Unilever organizations as required.
  • Determine training needs and assist in delivery of training programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in safety & occupational health management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety, Health and Environmental field applied to construction projects. Factory/manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • English level: intermediate at least, capable of sustaining business conversations.
