Job Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The ELS Engineer serves as a Lean/Six Sigma authority, playing a pivotal role in utilizing Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to pinpoint improvement opportunities within the organization. This position is accountable for driving performance enhancements by spearheading, executing, and mentoring ELS initiatives across all levels of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake responsibilities and tasks assigned by your direct supervisor and execute them effectively.
  • Manage workload distribution efficiently.
  • Apply ergonomic principles to workstation design.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies (Just in Time, Kanban, Lean, etc.).
  • Possess industry knowledge.
  • Utilize basic AutoCAD skills.
  • Exhibit statistical analysis capabilities.
  • Oversee manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Model and promote 5S and operational excellence practices.
  • Design process flows to ensure optimal movement of raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished products, while maximizing the use of physical space and resources through lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Define necessary tools, fixtures, and equipment to ensure robust processes that guarantee product quality.
  • Document processes, tools, customer specifications, and requirements through detailed work instructions and procedures in alignment with plant quality system guidelines.
  • Provide operational support in problem-solving and method definition.
  • Execute cost-reduction initiatives and performance enhancement projects.
  • Foster a safety-first culture to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Conduct process failure analyses and facilitate root cause investigations.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Enterprise Lean Sigma philosophy and demonstrate it through effective training program development.
  • Analyze supply chain processes to identify projects or changes that eliminate non-value-added activities and enhance customer value.
  • Successfully initiate, lead, and implement assigned projects.
  • Act as a change agent, challenging outdated practices and implementing significant improvements.
  • Inspire others to embrace process changes and take ownership of their roles.
  • Train and mentor colleagues on Lean/Six Sigma principles.
  • Identify project opportunities within the organization and eliminate barriers to continuous improvement.
  • Drive the application of best practices throughout the organization.
  • Utilize Value Stream Mapping to establish baseline processes and track progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related fields).
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience (experience in flexography is advantageous).
  • Green Belt certification; Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic risk assessments.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Minitab.
  • Experience in personnel management.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • High-level communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, whether as a leader or a member.
  • Proven leadership capabilities to influence and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change effectively.
