Job Title: Assistant Cost Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Cost Manager to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for providing expert cost advice and support to our clients and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation and Valuation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for all project phases, including design, construction, and completion.
  2. Cost Control and Monitoring: Monitor and control project costs, identifying and mitigating potential cost risks and opportunities.
  3. Value Engineering: Participate in value engineering sessions to optimize project costs and improve value for our clients.
  4. Change Order Management: Prepare and analyze change orders, ensuring that they are accurately priced and approved.
  5. Project Budgeting: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that they are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with project requirements.
  6. Progress Measurement: Develop and implement progress measurement criteria with vendors, ensuring that project progress is accurately tracked and reported.
  7. Cash Flow Forecasting: Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes, ensuring that project cash flow is accurately managed and reported.
  8. Cost Planning: Quantify materials and labor for all project phases, ensuring that project costs are accurately estimated and managed.
  9. Cost Benefit Analysis: Prepare cost benefit analyses to support project decisions and optimize project value.
  10. Project Reporting: Provide regular project reports to stakeholders, including project status, costs, and progress.

Qualifications and Experience:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Cost Manager with a strong background in cost management and a degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or Architecture. You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of construction costs and commercial documentation. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working towards RICS membership or recently chartered
  • Conversant in all aspects of quantity surveying
  • Experience in utilizing software systems, such as CostX, CATO, BIM Measure, Excel, and AutoCAD
