Job Overview

This role involves leading a team of engineers in the strategic development, management, and execution of continuous improvement objectives and day-to-day manufacturing engineering operations. Key responsibilities include implementing and sustaining LEAN Manufacturing processes to improve product quality, line efficiency, labor utilization, layout optimization, and operating costs for existing and new products.

A Day In The Life
  • Manage, train, and develop a manufacturing support team to achieve top-level performance.
  • Implement LEAN Manufacturing principles throughout the manufacturing process and contribute to Continuous Improvement/Kaizen activities across the plant.
  • Prioritize, manage, and resolve manufacturing process, equipment/tooling, and maintenance problems in real-time to ensure customer satisfaction and business success.
  • Identify, plan, manage, and execute continuous improvement actions that reduce costs, cycle time, and lead time while increasing safety, quality, and repeatability.
  • Oversee the creation of equipment specifications for purchasing capital equipment and design tooling, jigs, and fixtures for effective results.
  • Evaluate and execute time studies to establish engineering labor standards and routings.
  • Prepare standard work documents for new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Lead projects and working teams to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects effectively.
  • Develop tooling or fixtures for new products and assembly processes.
  • Organize and coordinate Kaizen activities, including planning and executing Kaizen events/teams, collecting prerequisite data, and monitoring 90-day sustainment of Kaizen event improvements.
What You Need To Thrive

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Minimum seven years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • At least three years managing a team of engineers.
  • Three years of Lean Manufacturing experience (Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus).
  • Experience with automation applications and implementation a plus.
  • SAP experience desired.
  • Facility layout optimization experience desired.
  • Time Study and labor standards experience required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing efficient manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
