We are seeking a Data Science Professional to join our team who will develop novel data analyses and create compelling data visualizations. This role will report to the Senior Director of Research and collaborate with key research staff globally. The position is fully remote within the Eastern Time Zone. Recent examples of our work include Mapping Poland's Tech Sector, Where Do Unicorns Come From, and The Venture Landscape in Spain.

Main Responsibilities

  • Extract valuable insights from quantitative and qualitative data on founders, companies, venture capital, and markets that support Endeavor's mission and research objectives.
  • Oversee the data analysis lifecycle across multiple projects, ensuring organized and clean data sets, integrating data from various sources, developing statistical analysis, creating new methodologies, identifying new data sources, and documenting processes.
  • Develop data journalism-style outputs featuring salient findings that support a strong narrative and novel data visualizations with a user-centric design.
  • Coordinate data visualization production by collaborating with designers and managing product development by third-party software developers.
  • Collaborate with the Platform team on data infrastructure and server management, serving as the point of contact for teams' collaboration on new data warehousing solutions.
  • Train and educate other team members on coding, analysis, and data science techniques.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Predictive modeling and analyzing entrepreneurial networks (e.g., closeness centrality).
  • Implementing machine learning algorithms (e.g., random forest) and econometric analysis (e.g., multivariate regression).
  • Ability to update and create SQL infrastructures, knowledge of piping for custom dashboards, and surveys.
  • Experience using GitHub and managing Endeavor Insight's GitHub account.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing complex data journalism projects with multimedia or interactive features.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in English (intermediate level, both oral and written).
  • Proficient in managing large datasets, data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python for data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL.
  • Ability to pull large amounts of data through APIs.
  • Familiarity with Flourish, Tableau, and D3 is a plus; ability to code in HTML, JavaScript, and PHP would be ideal but not required.

Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications. We seek a remote candidate based outside of the US in one of our 30+ countries. Benefits include:
