About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a software engineer passionate about open source software, Linux, Ubuntu Server, and public clouds. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to work with the best and brightest people in technology at Canonical, a growing international software company. You will be part of adapting Ubuntu Server for the clouds, working with our experienced team, and learning and growing alongside the best engineers in the business.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to create high-quality code and debug issues.
- Write high-quality code to create new features and review code produced by other engineers.
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions, working from home with global travel for internal and external events.
- Become involved in the planning of new Ubuntu features, advising on work being done elsewhere, and assisting in the maintenance of Ubuntu Server packages.
- Collaborate with other teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, upstream projects, and commercially supported customers.
- You love technology and working with brilliant people, and you are curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
- You value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.
- You have a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree, and interest and experience with two or more of the following: Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, Python, Go, Debian packaging, AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud.
- You enjoy frequently switching projects and learning about a wide range of technologies, and involvement in open source projects in the past is a plus.
