About the Role

You will be an integral part of the Trulia Data Science team, working closely with the Zillow Growth Product team to acquire and activate high-quality users for Zillow Group brands. The Trulia Data Science team is responsible for organizing, analyzing, and visualizing large datasets from various sources to inform short and long-term decision-making.

As a Data Scientist, you will analyze customer interactions with our platforms to find their next home, using these insights to advise design and product development. You will provide thought leadership in crafting an outstanding shopping experience for Trulia's users, playing a pivotal role in developing the long-term vision of our product ecosystem.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with product and engineering teams to craft a long-term customer strategy.
  • Using sophisticated analytics, including clustering, propensity modeling, and causal inference techniques, to gain a clearer picture of customer behavior.
  • Building compelling data stories and visualizations to influence decision-makers.
  • Serving as a mentor and resource to other data scientists on the team by hosting learning academies and authorizing detailed documentation.
  • Designing, analyzing, and interpreting A/B experiments with statistical precision.
  • Identifying and tracking business-critical metrics; analyzing, measuring, and reporting levers that help move them.
  • Collaborating with fellow Data Scientists to build and improve the DS infrastructure (ETLs, dashboards, experimentation platform, tracking, etc.).

This role has been categorized as a teleworker position, allowing you to work from a physical location of your choice. You will be encouraged to attend occasional in-office events in Mexico City.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance, and location.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of statistical concepts, measurement issues, and inference techniques.
  • Experience articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at answers.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, along with some experience with visualization tools and working with terabyte-sized clickstream data.
  • Experience with ETL pipelines, scheduling, and productionalizing (Airflow, Spark, or similar experience is a plus).
  • Ability to think creatively and provide thoughtful, agile insights.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill sophisticated issues and detailed analysis into simple, structured frameworks with concrete action plans.
  • Able to work across silos and influence business partners to set realistic goals and focus on data-driven solutions.
