Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead our Global Energy Transition Initiative in Latin America. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a country-specific energy transition strategy in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil, while fostering strategic synergies and collaboration with other regional/country energy transition initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive energy transition strategy in Latin America, focusing on Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.
  • Collaborate with Bloomberg Philanthropies' International Energy Transition Team to align strategy and execution.
  • Engage with regional/country-leads from Bloomberg Philanthropies to execute strategy and advise funders on political, economic, industrial, and technology developments and trends relevant to energy transition in Latin American countries.
  • Develop and explore new partnerships with global, regional, and country-level organizations and regranting organizations.
  • Convene, coordinate, and collaborate with a range of public and private sector stakeholders, including government officials, development finance institutions, private sectors, regional organizations, and inter-governmental organizations.
  • Identify new/prospective grantee partners and develop grantee pipelines.
  • Manage the Latin America-based energy transition grantee partners, developing an end-to-end grant management process.
Requirements
  • 8-10 years of hands-on technical and policy experience in energy sector decarbonization, with a focus on Latin America, especially Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.
  • Hands-on experience in policy design and policy advocacy, with a strong understanding of high-emitting economies' power sector decarbonization pathways and transitional finance in the power sector.
  • Strong stakeholder and partnership development skills, with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as public policy, economics, or business administration, with a background in electric engineering and/or power system modeling a plus.
