About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sommelier to join our team at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. As a key member of our Food & Beverage department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine service to our guests, while also contributing to the growth and development of our wine program.

Responsibilities:

• Actively engage with guests and lead with a hands-on approach to provide personalized wine service.
• Take the lead in growing wine sales in the restaurants, maintaining and updating wine lists, and ensuring wines are served at the right temperature and with the proper glassware.
• Anticipate guest needs and maintain positive guest relations at all times, advising guests on wines based on their personal taste and food pairings.
• Maintain pars and report order needs, help maintain the wine cellar, the beverage storeroom, and assist in monthly inventories.
• Create and participate in staff wine tasting and educational opportunities, maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
• Complete opening side and closing side duties thoroughly and efficiently as assigned, modeling the company's culture, vision, mission, and core values at all times.

Requirements:

• Experience as a sommelier in fine dining or luxury resort preferred but not required.
• CMS or WSET certifications or equivalent from another accredited wine institution.
• Desire to learn about local Mexican history and culture.
• Passionate about wine, food, and world-class hospitality.
• Warm, friendly, and an excellent communicator.
• Proficient in English and Spanish (Spoken and Writing). Other languages are a plus.
• Ability to teach and encourage service staff to develop their wine knowledge.
• Extensive knowledge of wine and formal wine service.
• Working knowledge of cocktails and spirits.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
