Job Description
The Design and Release Engineer for Exterior Lighting is responsible for collaborating with Product Development Organization (PDO) to develop the first surface of the headlamp or tail lamp, working with suppliers to develop the B surface (housing and lighting internals), and developing the lamp output to meet legal and customer requirements. Additionally, the engineer must ensure all packaging and mounting requirements are met for BIW, Fender, Grill, Fascia, or Bumper surrounding components.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and launch exterior lighting components and overall systems in collaboration with local engineering teams, Architecture/Vehicle Concepts, program science teams, and PDO.
- Support meeting throughout NA work hours and work closely with local engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop the B surface (housing and lighting internals) and ensure compliance with legal and customer requirements.
- Develop the lamp output to meet legal and customer requirements and ensure all packaging and mounting requirements are met for BIW, Fender, Grill, Fascia, or Bumper surrounding components.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
- Minimum 5 years of design, release, and CAD packaging experience.
- Experience designing and developing large injection molded components.
- Experience with injection molding, thermophorming process, fixed glass, and decorating plastic components.
- Fluent English.
- Computer proficient (including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and database applications).
- Experience with Catia V5, NX, and Teamcenter.
