Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join our team at Ford México. As a key member of our engineering staff, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to improve our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, analyze and follow up on automation projects and installations.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems to support day-to-day production issues.
  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements, ensuring alignment with ME Group Staff.
  • Define, design, and maintain the plant controls strategy, reviewing and approving technical drawings.
  • Conduct Machine Acceptance for all new and retool equipment, reviewing and approving new technologies, materials, and components.
  • Provide technical support for energy efficiency activities related to electrical circuits, coordinating and supporting vendor installations in the plant.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years of related experience in automation controls, PLC programming, and electrical engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc robots, Kawasaki programming, RS Logics, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience.
  • TQM and Kaizen Methods.
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience.
