**Job Summary and Scope**:
The Transportation Operations Manager will oversee the planning, direction, and coordination of transportation operations within a large business segment. This includes managing the transportation of goods and supplies, reviewing and recommending improvements to procedures to ensure on-time delivery.
**Key Responsibilities:**
• Develop and implement specific objectives and performance measures to improve performance.
• Interpret, understand, and act on individual and collective performance and quality data.
• Lead the selection and hiring of new delivery employees, evaluate employee performance, and develop action plans for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with company and government policies and regulations, including safety protocols and transportation laws.
• Conduct regular safety meetings, complete and review safety incident reports, and recommend changes to maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure that all delivery employees receive proper training and skills development.
• Monitor compliance with driver continuous work hours in accordance with established laws and policies.
• Communicate with Customer Service on delivery issues.
• Manage Driver equipment and uniforms.
• Provide Customer Service with update information on customers, such as time windows and address changes.
• Monitor the SAMSARA system during shifts.
• Communicate daily with Routing Center on same-day and next-day deliveries.
• Communicate with Distribution Managers on vehicles and driver issues.
• Provide shift start times for drivers.
• Monitor Driver return procedures.
• Analyze information from the digital POD capture compliance report to recommend, offer, and implement performance improvements.
• Meet perfect order objectives.
• Utilize all available business tools to deliver continuous improvement.
• Be knowledgeable of safety work practices and perform all duties in a safe manner. Supports business safety committee.
**Qualifications and Knowledge:**
A thorough understanding of warehouse, delivery, and traffic operations within a distribution setting, as well as government regulations, preferably from a large, national or decentralized organization.
• 3+ years of successful supervisory/management experience is required.
• Ability to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
• PC proficient in Windows-based software programs.
• Familiarity with mid-range and mainframe operational systems is helpful.
• Excellent leadership, customer relations, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to motivate team, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
• Strong planning and organization skills are required.
• Intermediate level of English desirable.
**Work Experience:**
3+ years of successful supervisory/management experience is required.
A thorough understanding of warehouse, delivery, and traffic operations within a distribution setting, as well as government regulations, preferably from a large, national or decentralized organization.
Excellent leadership, customer relations, and interpersonal skills are required.
**Education:**
Certificate of Industry-oriented Teaching, Logistics, or Administration, Bachelor's degree.
