Job Description

Scope of Position:

As an Air Imports Agent at Expeditors, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while promoting exceptional customer service within the Air Imports area. You will work closely with pricing and billing peers to support team efforts and comply with all regulations, procedures, and policies applicable to Air Imports and the company overall.

Key Deliverables

Key performance indicators include:

  • Customer Loyalty: Ensure customer SOPs are updated in a timely manner and customer-approved lists are complete and up-to-date.
  • Operational Performance: Complete 52 hours of training per year, monitor OPS/OPA and OSD follow-up, and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Service Provider Management: Utilize SPM tools and resources, monitor service providers, and ensure timely payments.
  • Data Quality: Ensure EDI usage and timely resolution of EDE issues, and maintain District Excellence understanding and execution.
  • Security, Health, and Safety: Comply with Safety & Security Policies and report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the Branch's Health and Safety representative.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations, Trade Partners, and In bonds requirements.
  • Finance: Execute Expeditors' credit policy, manage Service Provider Payments, and ensure Revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

As an Air Imports Agent, you will:

  • Understand Expeditors' policies, mission, vision, and culture.
  • Understand general procedures and quality expectations (District Excellence).
  • Understand the Air Import process flow per Expeditors' Operational Performance Standards (OPS).
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into Expeditors' system.
  • Utilize company systems and tools, including Air Import Lateral, Air import workflow, CFIT – Import System, EDOC – electronic library, and Exp.o customs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service per Expeditors' Standards.
  • Ensure customer SOPs are in place and updated in Expeditors' Customer SOP database.
  • Develop professional relationships with customers, ensuring timely shipment processing and communication.
  • Proactively interact with customers, providing professional advice and suggestions to facilitate shipment processing.
  • Contribute to maintaining good relationships with internal and external suppliers/service providers.
  • Support service provider management processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive team work environment, working actively as a team and supporting our network.
  • Properly escalate issues to immediate supervisor and/or manager, or any other required team with the adequate expertise.
  • Understand and execute all compliance requirements at all times.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a similar position, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
  • Solving problem-oriented.
  • Pro-active.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Advance English (Written and spoken).
  • Understanding of air import process (Preferred).
  • TSA certified (Preferred).
  • Hazardous materials certification (Preferred).
