Department Overview

Our operations are divided into two primary sectors: The Engine Group, which specializes in air management strategies and products aimed at optimizing engine performance, and the Drivetrain Group, which boasts over a century of expertise in transmission and all-wheel drive technologies. This group utilizes its extensive knowledge of powertrain clutching technologies to create sophisticated control systems and strategies for effective torque management.

Position Summary

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is seeking a proactive and results-oriented individual to fill the role of Control Engineer. In this capacity, you will work under the guidance of the Control & Tester Supervisor to develop, support, and enhance control systems within our manufacturing and testing processes, as well as contribute to new projects aimed at achieving organizational goals and improving process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program manufacturing equipment including PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and robotics.
  • Optimize sequences, algorithms, and programs for manufacturing equipment.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and standard operating procedures (SOP) for new equipment and tools.
  • Develop, integrate, and install workstations in accordance with BorgWarner standards.
  • Manage SCADA systems for effective data management and collection in manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure proper software management for control equipment.
  • Maintain an organized backup of control equipment programs.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to enhance control and safety systems.
  • Engage in corrective and preventive actions to address maintenance issues.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of production lines to identify failures and propose improvements.
  • Update control systems in production equipment as necessary.
  • Verify adherence to defined production process steps through system logic.
  • Maintain current control equipment and liaise with suppliers for device and service selection.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Manufacturing Processes, Quality Systems, Automation, Industrial Electronics, Basic Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and Statistical Process Control. Familiarity with software such as TIA Portal, RS Logix 5000, Visual Basic, Tools Talk, BS350, Factory Talk View, In-Sight, and LabView is essential.
  • Other Requirements: Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
