Responsibilities

The Role

The Cloud Migration Project Leader will be an integral member of PepsiCo's Cloud Acceleration and Value Office (CAVO), focusing on the transition of on-premise data center and field workloads to cloud environments. This position is essential to our CAVO initiative, which supports ongoing cloud migrations and the deployment of innovative cloud solutions.

With over 350 applications migrated to the cloud in recent years, we are poised to continue this momentum with an additional 100+ migrations planned for the near future. This role will take charge of a specific segment of cloud migration projects, ensuring a systematic and agile approach that meets the demands of our digital transformation. The position will involve collaborating with various Product and Application Owners within the CIO teams to conduct cloud assessments, evaluate migration strategies, and oversee the actual migration processes as part of the Cloud Migration Factory workstream.

Your Contributions

As a Cloud Migration Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the scheduling and execution of migrations for applications transitioning to cloud-hosted platforms, validating the planned architecture and costs, and enhancing the security posture of applications.
  • Confirming the recommended hosting model to ensure that migrated solutions are supported cost-effectively.
  • Conducting comprehensive comparisons of labor, hosting, software licensing, and operational costs to ensure alignment across teams during migrations.
  • Leading the implementation of migration recommendations to support our multi-year cloud transformation strategy, including the onboarding of new cloud-native solutions.
Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure principles and methodologies.
  • At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure delivery and/or operations.
  • Over 2 years of experience in cloud migration, focusing on assessing migration methods and optimizing cloud costs (IaaS and PaaS).

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in executing migrations.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools for software development and deployment tracking.
  • Experience managing complex multi-datacenter environments with a strong grasp of multi-tenancy and security.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation for cloud hosting, including cloud hosting and software licensing.
  • Experience in vendor management and leading cloud deployment projects in multi-cloud environments.
  • Understanding of containerization and virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Docker.
  • Experience with Azure or AWS IaaS/PaaS technologies, including configuration, migration, and deployment efforts.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-class SQL, NoSQL, and Big Data databases, along with license management and compliance measurement.
  • Experience in hybrid multi-cloud environments, utilizing various migration methods.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, PowerShell, Python, and Perl.
  • Preferred: A solid understanding of networking concepts, including BGP, DNS, Load Balancing, and firewalls.
